Last Time vs. Red Wings: Stutzle scores overtime highlight reel goal to beat Red Wings 5-4
Last Time: On November 16, the Ottawa Senators were in Sweden facing off against the Red Wings in the first match of the Global Series. Ottawa had the game in hand before Detroit fought back to tie it but with seconds left in overtime, Tim Stutzle scored a highlight reel goal to take the win.
This Time: The series is tied 1-1 and both teams lost their last games. Detroit lost to the San Jose Sharks 6-5 in overtime, meanwhile the Senators lost 4-3 to Toronto. Patrick Kane made his debut with Detroit on Dec 7th and will be looking to make an impact in this game. Thomas Chabot is out for a minimum of 4 weeks after confirming no surgery would be required. The Ottawa front staff received a much needed upgrade with the addition of former Senators coach Jacques Martin as Senior Adviser!
Statistically, both teams can score goals and allow close to the same amount of goals, so that won’t be the biggest factor. It may come down to special teams in which Detroit has a considerable edge compared to Ottawa.
