What is black and white and named after another species of bird?
A penguin.
It’s believed that when explorers first saw penguins, they reminded them of another bird called the great auk, “Pinguinus impennis” in Latin. Both species were black and white, and also flightless, but they were not related. They wouldn’t have even lived in the same area! The great auk, now extinct, lived in the north Atlantic and off the coast of Newfoundland. Nowadays, the only penguins you can find in Canada live in zoos and aquariums. If you want to see penguins in the wild, you would need to travel to places in the Southern Hemisphere such as Antarctica, South Africa, Chile, Peru, the Galápagos Islands, Australia and New Zealand.
GAME DAY REPORT

Last Time vs. Pittsburgh: Sens end 3-game losing streak, upend Penguins 5-2
Last Time: All the way back on October 28th, the Ottawa Senators had lost 3 games in a row and were looking to turn the tide by facing the Pittsburgh Penguins. Brady Tkachuk scored twice and Ridly Greig, Dominik Kubalik and Drake Batherson all added goals to end the loosing streak.
This Time: Well, almost two months later, the Ottawa Senators are facing a similar situation. This time, Ottawa has a 6-game losing streak they are trying to end and return home after and 0-5 record on a pre-holiday road trip. Can the Senators end the losing streak and provide the first victory to the returning Jacques Martin and Daniel Alfredsson in front of its Ottawa fan base? Is it Christmas Miracle time?
Statistically, the Ottawa Senators hold an edge on the average goals scored per game. They also have an edge on the power play despite struggling to connect on many opportunities during the road trip. Penguins hold the advantage on the penalty kill while Ottawa’s PK has hit rock bottom, being the worst in the league.
