Season Highlights
Kyle Turris, Andrew Hammond and Shane Bowers, along with a draft pick were traded to the Colorado Avalanch in exchange for Matt Duchene.
December 16th saw the NHL 100 Classic game played outdoors at the TD Place Stadium in a regular-season game versus the Montreal Canadiens.
Longtime Senators, Chris Neil retired with the Ottawa Senators and honoured by the Senators in a ceremony on January 25th, 2018.
As the team was poised to miss the playoffs, Pierre Dorion completed numerous trades including sending Dion Phaneuf and Nate Thompson to the Los Angeles Kings, Derick Brassard to the Pittsburgh Penguins and Johnny Oduya to the Philadelphia Flyers.
