Last season: The Senators faced the Colorado Avalanche twice last season, with Colorado taking wins on both occasions. Ottawa struggled during the pre-holiday trip out west, ending the road trip 0-5 after falling 6-4 to the Avs on December 21st. The Senators took an early advantage in the rematch on January 16th but Colorado scored 5 unanswered goals to win the game 7-4.

PLAYER PROFILE – Claude Giroux
Drafted in 2006 in the 1st round – 22nd overall by the Philadelphia Flyers, the Hearst, Ontario native, Claude Giroux is enjoying his 19th year in the NHL and 3rd with the Senators. Giroux played over 1,000 games during 15 seasons with the Flyers before signing as a free agent with Ottawa on July 13, 2022.
During his first year with the Senators, Giroux scored a career-high 35 goals and added 21 more goals last year along with 43 assists.

ON THIS DAY IN SENS HISTORY
In 2000, with a 6-0 blanking of the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Senators established a new team record for fastest start in a regular season, going 6-0-3.
In 2022, Mark Kastelic signed a 2-year contract extension with Ottawa. Kastelic played all three seasons with Ottawa, playing in 144 games, recording 14 goals and 11 assists. He was traded on June 24 along with Joonas Korpisalo and a 1st-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft in exchange for goaltender Linus Ullmark.
In 2023, the NHL announced on Oct 26th that Shane Pinto was suspended for 41 days for “activities relating to sports wagering”. The fallout of that announcement was felt on Oct 27th when the media tried to better understand the NHL’s ruling. Shane Pinto returned to active play on January 21, 2024.
