PLAYER PROFILE – Anton Forsberg
Drafted in 2011 in the 7th round – 188th overall by Columbus Blue Jackets, the Härnösand, Sweden native, is enjoying his 10th year in the NHL and 5th year with the Senators.
The Waiver Train:
Forsberg had a complicated journey, starting in Columbus for a handful of games, before being traded to Chicago in 2017 to play in 35 games for the Blackhawks. He was traded to Carolina in 2019 for 3 games before signing as a free agent with Edmonton in 2020. Edmonton placed him on waivers on January 12, 2021 and he was claimed off waivers by Carolina. Three days later he was placed on waivers again and claimed by Winnipeg, but that was not the end. He was placed on waivers by Winnipeg in March 2021 and claimed on waivers by Ottawa.

Season Highlights
Alexei Yashin returned to the Ottawa Senators after being absent the previous season due to a contract dispute. Yashin was not restored to the team captain, leaving the captaincy with Daniel Alfredsson. After the season, Yashin was traded to the New York Islanders for Zdeno Chara, Bill Muckalt, and the Islander’s 1st round draft pick (2nd overall) which the Senators used to draft Jason Spezza. Islanders General Manager Mike Milbury promptly signed Yashin to a 10-year/$87.5 million contract.
