Ottawa will be facing some very tough opposition during this road trip and it all starts tonight with their first game in Seattle.

Senators vs. Kraken

Last Time: The Senators battled the Seattle Kraken on November 2nd, recording a 3-0 victory at home. Now, it’s time to shift the battle on Seattle’s home turf for the beginning of a 9-game road trip.

Game Day: The Senators are riding a 3-game winning streak for the first time this season after defeating Anaheim, Carolina and Pittsburgh. Will they start the road trip on the right foot with a victory tonight? The Kraken’s last game was a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Season Highlights

The Ottawa Senators finished the seasons with over 100 points again and would meet the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the playoffs, losing the series 4-3. Ottawa would fire Head Coach Jacques Martin after the playoff round. On June 21, 2003, Assistant Coach Roger Neilson died after 4 years of battling cancer. On August 26, 2003, Eugene Melnyk purchased the Ottawa Senators to bring financial stability.

  • Top Scorer: Marian Hossa scored 36 goals.
  • Top Helper: Daniel Alfredsson registered 48 assists.

  • Top Goalie: Patrick Lalime played 57 games for 3,324 mins with a result of 25-23-7 including 5 shutouts with a 2.29 GAA and .905 SV%.

ON THIS DAY IN SENATORS HISTORY

In 2019, Thomas Chabot skated the second highest recorded total for a regular-season game (37:50, just shy of Dennis Wideman’s record of 38:05 on 1/18/2014) in Ottawa’s 4-3 OT loss at Tampa Bay.

In 2016, Chris Neil became the first Senator (and only the 22nd player in NHL history) to reach 2,500 penalty minutes for his NHL career in Ottawa’s 3-1 home win over New Jersey.

In 2011, Kyle Turris was acquired from Phoenix in exchange for defenceman David Rundblad and the Coyotes’ 2nd-round pick in 2012.

In 1990, Mayor Jim Durrell accepted the post as president of the Ottawa Senators, while also retaining his job at Ottawa City Hall.
