Levi almost had another shutout in his 4th consecutive start, he actually stopped all pucks for 3 straight periods, extending his shutout to 6 periods. Ovechkin ended up scoring in OT to provide Ottawa with a loss however, the Senators did capture a most valuable point in the process. They face the Bruins in an early game today, don’t miss it on Hockey Day in Canada.

Last Time: The Senators battled the Boston Bruins on November 9th, winning the contest 3-2 in overtime. They battle tonight but wont’ have to wait long for another match up as they are scheduled to face each other again on Thursday, January 23rd. Then, they will have a brief pause before their final encounter on March 13th.

Game Day: The Senators winning ways ended with the Capitals in overtime while Boston won 6-2 over Tampa Bay back on January 14th.

Season Highlights

With a logjam in goaltending, Bryan Murray traded Robin Lehner and David Legwand to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 21st overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Daniel Alfredsson returned to the Senators organization as senior advisor of hockey operations reporting directly to Bryan Murray.

In February 2016, the Senators and the Maple Leafs made a sensational nine player trade. The Senators acquired Dion Phaneuf, Matt Frattin and 3 prospects in exchange for Jared Cowen, Colin Greening, Milan Michalek, prospect Tobias Lindberg and 2nd round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Following the end of the season, Bryan Murray stepped down as General Manager and assistant GM Pierre Dorion became the new General Manager. Head coach Dave Cameron and the coaching staff were subsequently fired soon after.

2015-16 Senators Highlights

FUTURE SENS – Donovan Sebrango

The Ottawa native was drafted in the 3rd round – 63rd overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2020 NHL Draft. He played in the minors or NHL affiliated team, signing a 3-year entry-level contract with the Red Wings on March 15, 2021.

Sebrango was subsequently traded to the Ottawa Senators on July 9, 2023 as part of the Alex DeBrincat trade to Detroit. He was recently called up to the big club during the 9-game road trip but did not play a game before being returned to Belleville.

Sebrango made his NHL debut against the Capitals on January 16th!
