The Senators dominated the beginning of the game yesterday against Boston until the Bruins turned up the heat and established a two goal lead. Undeterred, the Senators fought back to score two goals, the last goal in the dying seconds of the period, to force overtime and a shootout. Levi Merilainen delivered again, stopping all three scoring attempts to allow the Senators to capture two valuable points.

Last Time: The Senators battled the New Jersey Devils on October 17th losing 3-1 early in the season. After they battle the Devils tonight they will face New Jersey one final time on March 22nd.

Game Day: The Senators continue to collect valuable points as they try to distance themselves from other Eastern teams and take a hold of the wildcard playoff spot. Meanwhile, the Devils took a 3-1 loss to the Flyers yesterday, extending their losses to three in a row.

Season Highlights

After become the new General Manager, Pierre Dorion proceeded to hire Guy Boucher as head coach and Marc Crawford as assistant coach.

On September 26th, the Senators announced they would move the AHL affiliate Binghamton Senators to Belleville, Ontario and rename the team the Belleville Senators

The Senators announced the retirement of Daniel Alfredsson’s jersey, #11 in a ceremony on December 29th. On January 24th, the Senators honoured Bryan Murray as the first member of their “Ring of Honour”.

  • Top Scorer: Kyle Turris scored 27 goals.

LOCKER ROOM – JERSEY #41

When thinking about jersey #41 most players think of only one player… and no, that is not Jonathan Cheechoo, perish the thought! That is of Craig Anderson! A goaltender who played for the Senators for 10 years and was recently honored in Ottawa for his retirement from the NHL.

ON THIS DAY IN SENS HISTORY

In 2021, Josh Norris scored the first goal of his NHL career when facing Winnipeg in a 4-3 OT loss.

In 2012, Mark Borowiecki made his NHL debut for the Ottawa Senators, becoming the 97th player to do so for Senators and the first position player to do so against the San Jose Sharks (4-1 win).

In 2006, The Corel Centre is renamed Scotiabank Place.
