THANK YOU FOR BEING A SENS

Kevin Mandolese

Mandolese was drafted in 2018, in the 6th round – 157th overall by the Ottawa Senators. The Blainville, Quebec native was selected as a goalie prospect for the Senators, signing a 3-year entry-level contract with the Ottawa franchise on April 13, 2020.

He spent four seasons with the Belleville Senators:

  • 2020-21 season: 9 games – 3 wins and 6 losses
  • 2021-22 season: 17 games – 9 wins and 5 losses
  • 2022-22 season: 17 games – 6 wins and 8 losses
  • 2023-24 season: 23 games – 10 wins and 9 losses

He made his Senators debut on February 14, 2023 at New York against the Islanders, securing a win when facing 48 shots. He also had starts on February 20, 2023 at Boston and March 12, 2023 in Calgary, both resulting in losses.

Mandolese became a restricted free agent last season and was traded by the Senators on July 15, 2024 along with a 7th-round pick to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a 6th round-pick. He was signed by the Avalanche to a one-year, two-way contract extension for the 2024-25 season. He was placed on waivers during training camp and went unclaimed, therefore he was assigned Colorado’s AHL affiliate, Colorado Eagles.

With that we say to Kevin Mandolese…. Thank You For Being A Sens!

ON THIS DAY IN SENS HISTORY

In 2020, with a two-minute second period interference penalty, Brad Tkachuk becomes the first Senator, and only the fourth player in NHL history, to record 40 or more goals, 40 or more assists and 180 or more penalty minutes prior to his 21st birthday (joining Arnot, Lindros and Nolan). His third period tally (the eventual game-winning goal in a 4-3 home victory over the N.Y. Islanders) sees him become the first North American-born player in franchise history to score 20 goals in each of his two seasons with the team, joining Daniel Alfredsson and Alexei Yashin.

In 2018, with a 3-2 overtime win in Dallas, Ottawa earned a third consecutive win on the road against the Stars for the first time in franchise history. The Senators would go on to defeat Dallas 3-2 in overtime at the Canadian Tire Centre on March 16 to give Ottawa a second consecutive series sweep of the Stars for the first time.

In 2014, Cory Conacher was placed on waivers and was claimed by Buffalo. On the same day, Ales Hemsky was acquired from Edmonton in exchange for the Senators’ 5th-round pick in 2014 and the Senators’ 3rd-round pick in 2015 which was later traded to the NY Rangers.

In 2004, at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, the Senators and Flyers combined for 419 penalty minutes in a brawl-filled affair, establishing a new NHL record for total PIMs in a game.
