Nepean, Ontario native and Hall of Famer, Steve Yzerman, is known for many great accomplishments. One of the most recognizable attributes for Mr. Yzerman, is being one of the greatest leaders and captains to ever play the game of hockey.
Known locally in Detroit, Michigan, as “The Captain”, Steve Yzerman continues to hold the record as the longest serving team captain among the NHL and in North American professional sports history at 19 years.
The next closest captain looking to challenge Steve Yzerman for his title is Sidney Crosby, who after taking the captaincy in May of 2007, currently sits at 16 years.

🥅 Craig Anderson sets record for games played
In 2017, Craig Anderson becomes the first Senators goaltender to appear in 300 regular season games for the club when he skates in Ottawa’s 6-3 home win vs. Toronto. He would later appear in his 400th game, in 2019, and completed his run with the Senators with 435 games played over 10 seasons.
Craig Anderson not only holds the record for most games played but also holds the record for most wins, with 202, and sits in second place in shutouts (28) behind Patrick Lalime’s 30 shutouts.

Kubalik was drafted by Los Angeles in 2013 in the 7th round (191st overall) however, he never played for the Kings. In January 2019, the Chicago Blackhawks acquired Kubalik for a 5th-round pick. Kubalik played three seasons with Chicago, scoring 62 goals and marking 54 assists.
In 2022, Kubalik signed a 2-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings, playing in 81 games with them last year, scoring 20 goals and 25 assists. He was traded to the Ottawa Senators along with Donovan Sebrango, a conditional 1st-round pick in 2024 and a 4th-round pick in 2024 in exchange for Alex DeBrincat.
