Canada reigns supreme as 4 Nations Face-Off Champions! The Americans can thank the Ottawa Senators as both U.S. goals came from Senators alumni Brady Tkachuk and Jake Sanderson.

After a long 4 Nations break, the Senators are back on the ice facing a division rival in the Montreal Canadiens. The Senators had a 3-game losing streak prior to the break after facing Tampa Bay twice and Florida on the road. Now the break is over and the Senators are hungry to leave the wildcard position and reclaim their playoff position.

Senators vs. Canadiens

Last Time: The Senators battled the Montreal Canadiens back on October 12th in a 4-1 losing effort. They face tonight in the first game back from the 4 Nations break and will face them twice more on March 18th and April 11th.

Game Day: Both teams are riding 3-game losing streaks so one streak will be ending tonight. Ottawa is holding on to the top wildcard spot with 62 points but are eyeing Tampa who have 66 points with a game in hand.

FUTURE SENS – Max Guennette

The L’Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec native was drafted in the 7th-round – 187th overall by the Senators in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Maxence played the majority of his career with the Belleville Senators scoring 18 goals and 75 assists in the last three seasons.

He made his NHL debut on February 15, 2024 vs. Anaheim in his lone game during the 2022-23 season. He played 7 games for the Senators last seasons however he was unable to collect any points with the big club.

On June 18, 2024, Guennette signed a 1-year, two-way contract extension with the Senators. He has played 39 games with the Belleville Senators this season, recording 5 goals and 8 assists.


LOCKER ROOM – JERSEY #50 & 53

Two for the price of one, that’s right, we will cover jersey #50 and #53 in this issue. Jersey #50 was only worn by two players, Patrick Sieloff and currently assigned to prospect Maxence Guenette who is playing with the Belleville Senators.

Meanwhile, jersey #53 has not been worn by anyone since the 2020-21 season. It was first worn by Illya Zubov in the 2007-08 season, later worn by Jack Rodewald and last worn by Matthew Peca for a total of 14 games. Peca last played with the St. Louis Blues during the 2021-22 season.

ON THIS DAY IN SENS HISTORY

In 2022, Thomas Chabot played in the 300th game of his NHL career in Ottawa facing Minnesota. He joins Erik Karlsson as the only two defenceman to have at least 175 points at the time of their 300th game.

In 2020, Josh Norris made his NHL debut in Ottawa’s 3-0 home loss to Montreal.

In 2019, Vitaly Abramov & Jonathan Davidsson were acquired from Columbus in addition to the Blue Jackets’ 1st-round pick in 2019 (used to draft Lassi Thomson) in exchange for forward Matt Duchene and defenceman prospect Julius Bergman.
