ON THIS DAY IN SENS HISTORY

In 2021, D.J. Smith moved into sole possession of 7th all-time in head coaching victories for the club when facing Montreal in a 4-0 win. In that same game, Shane Pinto made his NHL debut and recorded his first NHL assist.

In 2017, Bobby Ryan became the 16th player in franchise history to record a playoff overtime winner in Game 3 (First Round) at Boston, in a 4-3 OT win. The overtime winner was the first playoff overtime goal of his NHL career and saw him become the third player (behind Havlat and Yashin) in franchise history to score a power-play goal in the playoffs in overtime.

In 1999, as the season concluded, the Senators cracked the 40-win (44) and 100-point (103) plateaus for the first time in the modern franchise, recording their first Northeast Division title.

In 1997, The Ottawa Senators celebrated their first playoff game in franchise history. Unfortunately, the Sabres defeated the Senators 3-1 in Buffalo.
