A Look Back – 2023-2024

Although last season saw the Senators fail to qualify for the playoffs, you may be surprised to see that many players achieved career highs despite a challenging season.

Thomas Chabot – The star defenceman played only 51 games last year, the lowest amount in the last three seasons. He scored 9 goals which was the highest goal output in the last 5 seasons, excluding the 11 goals he scored in the 2022-23 season. His -3 rating was tied with his career-high achievement in the 2021-22 season.

Jakob Chychrun – He achieved a career-high 82 games played last season, which was a remarkable achievement considering he was often perceived to be injury prone. He scored 14 goals, the most in the last 4 seasons and tied his career-high points with 41. With only 1 year remaining on his contract, Ottawa decided to trade his contract on July 1st to the Washington Capitals in exchange for defensemen Nick Jensen and a 3rd-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.

Jacob Bernard-Docker – JBD played a career-high 72 games last season, eclipsing his previous high of 19 games. He scored his first NHL goal and added 3 more for a total of 4 goals and a career-high 10 assists for 14 points. JBD also played in his 100th NHL game last season.

Joonas Korpisalo – The Finnish goalie made his debut with the Senators, playing a career-high 55 games, beating his previous total of 37 back in the 2019-20 season with Columbus. He also had a career-high 49 starts and career-high 21 wins! Yes, his previous wins record was 19 wins in 35 starts. With lots of games comes the opportunity to achieve career-high losses as well with 26 of them coming with the Senators. After signing a 5-year, $20 million contract with the Senators, Korpisalo was traded to the Boston Bruins in exchange for Linus Ullmark.
