Last season: The Senators faced the Las Vegas Golden Knights twice last season, splitting the series. Vegas struck the first blow on Dec 17th with a 6-3 win while the Senators had a measure of revenge on Feb 26th when they squeaked out a shootout 4-3 victory after Tim Stutzle scored the winning shootout goal.
Game Day: Vegas ended its three game slide, coming off a 6-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings while Ottawa is riding a high of back-to-back victories, beating Utah 4-0. Both teams enter the contest with recent victories and very comparable statistics. Ottawa boasts scoring power, sitting 8th in the league but is facing the Golden Knights who average more than 4 goals per game, sitting 4th in the league in scoring. Special teams will be interesting to watch as Ottawa’s power play has been on fire, sitting 2nd in the league but Vegas is sitting at 4th in the league. PLAYER PROFILE – Brady Tkachuk
The 10th team captain in franchise history, Brady Tkachuk also became the youngest NHL captain when he acquired the “C” on November 5, 2021 at the age of 22 years and 50 days.
Tkachuk enters into his 7th NHL season, all with the Senators. Last year saw Brady score a career-high 37 goals and rack up a career-high 134 penalty minutes.
