Drought strikes Toronto
Since entering the NHL in 1917, the Toronto Maple Leafs’ hold the second most wins of Stanley Cups with 13, second only to the Montreal Canadiens 24 Stanley Cups.
The last victory was in 1966-1967 when Toronto faced off against their rivals from Montreal in a six-game series. Dave Keon was named just the third Conn Smythe Trophy winner in league history, and it capped off an impressive four Stanley Cups in six years.
This year marks 56 years that the Maple Leafs have failed to win the ultimate championship.

GAME DAY REPORT

Senators All-Time Record vs. Maple Leafs: 70-54-3-13
The Senators hit the road to Scotiabank Arena to face their divisional rivals, Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leaf had been on a small losing streak before a come-from-behind victory over Tampa Bay on Monday with a 6-5 victory in overtime.
The Leafs and Senators rivalry brings about interesting games where often the statistics don’t matter as emotions take over the game. Statistically the teams are not far apart, however the Leafs may claim to possess superior talent as they have been cup contenders the last few seasons. Both teams have power plays in the top half of the league while their penalty kill is in the bottom half. Both teams score lots of goals but they also allow lots of goals. It may come down to goaltending and some luck at the end of the day.
