Senators vs. Panthers

Last Time: The Senators battled the Florida Panthers on October 10th, in the season opener, winning 3-1 to start off the season on the right foot. They battle the Panthers tonight and one final time on April 5th. Can they take the series lead with a win tonight?

Game Day: After suffering two losses in Florida, Ottawa is hoping to end the road trip with a big win before the break. The Panthers come in with a recent win and would also like to close the week out with a win!

Vladimir Tarasenko

Tarasenko is a 13th year NHL veteran, drafted by St. Louis in 2010 – 16th overall. He played 11 seasons with the Blues before being traded on February 9, 2023 to the New York Rangers. Tarasenko signed a 1-year, $5 million contract with the Ottawa Senators on July 27, 2023.

He made his Senators debut on October 11, 2023 at Carolina, recorded his first assist on October 14 and scored his first goal with the ens on October 15 vs. Tampa Bay.

Tarasenko played 57 games with the Senators, scoring 17 goals, collecting 24 assists for 41 points. With the Senators outside of a playoff spot, Tarasenko was traded to the Florida Panthers on March 6, 2024 in exchanged for a conditional pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a 3rd round pick in the 2025 draft. He won the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers and elected to sign as a free agent with Detroit on July 3, 2024.

In 2018, Craig Anderson recorded the 253rd victory of his NHL career in an overtime win against Nashville to move ahead of Frank Brimsek and into 6th place all-time in wins among American-born goaltenders.

In 2018, Senators owner Eugene Melnyk announces a 3-year contract extension for general manager Pierre Dorion through the 2021-22 season.

In 2016, The Senators made one of the biggest trades in team history, acquiring all-star defenceman Dion Phaneuf from the Toronto Maple Leafs in a nine-player transaction. Casey Bailey, Cody Donaghey, Matt Frattin, Dion Phaneuf & Ryan Rupert were acquired from Toronto in exchange for Jared Cowen, Colin Greening, prospect Tobias Lindberg, Milan Michalek and a 2nd-round draft pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

In 2011, Chris Phillips became the first defenceman and only second player in Senators history to suit up for 1,000 games in an Ottawa uniform. The veteran blueliner scored two goals, including the game-winner, as the Senators edged the Nashville Predators 4-3 at Scotiabank Place.
