Sens Take Down Canadiens in Shootout

In a back and forth game the Sens managed to win their second straight game in back to back shootout wins. Brady Tkachuk had two goals and an assist, Drake Batherson scored the only goal in the shootout. The Senators beat the Canadiens 5-4 on Saturday night.

🎂 Happy Birthday Brian Pothier
Happy 47th Birthday Brian Pothier! The New Bedford, Massachusetts native was undrafted in the NHL but enjoyed 9 seasons in the league, playing 362 games for 26 goals and 118 points. He spent three seasons with the Senators, starting in the 2002-03 season until the 2005-06 season.

👔 Ottawa Senators Fire 1st General Manager
In 1993, the Senators fired general manager Mel Bridgman who had served as the club’s inaugural GM. He was replaced by Randy Sexton who selected Alexandre Daigle first overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.

🏒 So Long Great One!
In 1999, before a capacity crowd at the Corel Centre, the Senators and New York Rangers played to a 2-2 tie. It is the final regular-season game in Canada for the Rangers’ Wayne Gretzky, the NHL’s all-time leading scorer. Gretzky is named the game’s only star.
