Standing O for Andy
On the night the Ottawa Senators will be retiring the franchise’s all time leader among goaltenders in games played, Craig Anderson, we would like to call back on one of his most notable accomplishments.
After learning about his wife Nicolle’s diagnosis with cancer, Craig took leave from the team to be with his family and care for his wife. After urging from Nicolle to rejoin the team in Edmonton, due to an injury to back up Andrew Hammond, Anderson went on to have a 37 save shutout. Both teams gave Anderson an emotional standing ovation not only for his performance, but his courage.
Anderson was the 1st star of the game.
