ON THIS DAY IN SENS HISTORY

⇄ Matt Duchene traded to Columbus for a 1st-round pick
In 2019, the Ottawa Senators traded Matt Duchene and Julius Bergman to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Vitaly Abramov, Jonathan Davidsson and the Blue Jackets’ 1st-round pick.

Matt Duchene had been acquired by the Senators from Colorado and played 118 games for Ottawa, recording 50 goals and 57 assists. He played 23 games for Columbus before signing with Nashville and playing 4 years with the Predators. This season, Duchene signed with the Dallas Stars.

Vitaly Abramov played 5 games with the Senators, spending the bulk of his time with the Belleville Senators. As his contract concluded, Abramov opted to pause his North American career and agreed to a 2-year contract with the KHL. Jonathan Davidsson played 6 games with the Senators over a period of two years before deciding to return to Sweden.

What happened to the 1st pick obtained in the trade? The Ottawa Senators drafted Lassi Thomson! Thomson played 18 games with the Senators during the last two years and is currently assigned to the Belleville Senators. In a somewhat scary moment for the Sens organization, they placed Thomson on waivers on Oct 1st, 2023 and he was claimed by the Anaheim Ducks. Essentially, Ottawa lost a 1st draft pick through waivers, however one week later, Anaheim placed Thomson on waivers which allowed Ottawa to claim him once again.

🏒 Johsn Norris has arrived
In 2020, Josh Norris made his NHL debut in Ottawa’s 3-0 home loss to Montreal.

🔥 Chabot reaches the 300 club
In 2022, Thomas Chabot played in the 300th game of his NHL career facing Minnesota. Chabot joined Erik Karlsson as the only two defenceman to have at least 175 points at the time of their 300th game.

by the numbers – jersey # 41

Craig Anderson wore jersey #41 with the Ottawa Senators from 2010 to 2020. Did you know that three other Senators player has worn number #41?

Typically, goaltender jersey numbers are reserved for… goaltenders. Meaning, only goalies have worn that jersey number before, however, that is not the case with #41. Can you name other players who wore jersey #41?
