Season Highlights

Jason Spezza was traded, at his request, to the Dallas Stars along with Ludwig Karlsson in exchange for Alex Chiasson, Alex Guptill, Nick Paul and a 2015 2nd-round draft pick. During free agency, Ottawa re-signed Milan Michalek to 3-years and signed David Legwand to a 2-year deal.

The Senators announced that General Manager Bryan Murray had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer and would undergo treatment immediately.

In December, GM Bryan Murray fired head coach Paul MacLean, after the team was nearing the .500 mark, replacing him with assistant coach Dave Cameron.

Goaltender, Andrew Hammond earned the moniker the “Hamburgler” during the Senators battle for the playoffs.

FUTURE SENS – Nikolas Mantinpalo

The Finish native was signed as a free agent by the Ottawa Senators for $775,000 on a one-year contract. Nikolas Mantinpalo played the majority of his career with the Belleville Senators, playing 67 games last year resulting in 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points.

He was called up to the Ottawa Senators last year, making his debut on October 28th against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He has yet to score his first NHL goal or record an assist at the NHL level.

He ended up playing 4 games with the big club last year and was already called up this year to support the team when the D-corp suffered an injury during their extended road trip.
